Renaissance: A Path to Hopes and Dreams

Who is Served?

You are served if you are an adult recovering from behavioral health issues.

Why is this Service Offered?

Renaissance helps you to recover from mental illness and/or substance use problems. You will learn skills to improve your decision-making ability and manage symptoms of your illness. Renaissance also helps you to identify and attain goals of independent living, learning, working, socializing and self-
maintenance/wellness.

What is the Service?

  • On your first visit to the program, you will meet with a clinical supervisor who will introduce you to the staff and other participants. You will review activities which are available in the program and the supervisor will answer any questions you may have. An attendance schedule will be developed with you during this meeting.
  • Your counselor will meet with you and together you will identify goals which are meaningful for you.
  • Together with your counselor, you will develop a rehabilitation plan. This plan will support you in being successful in the goals you choose.
  • You will meet with a Community Integration Specialist to assess your leisure skills and to develop a leisure activity plan if desired.
  • Your counselor and other program staff will assist you in learning skills both at the site and in the community. Community skill building opportunities might include learning how to use community resources, such as public transportation, markets, banks, cultural and educational resources.
  • You will participate in groups that teach you about your illness and support you in managing your symptoms, making positive choices and self-directing your recovery.
  • You may attend a group outing to the gym or other venues to enhance your knowledge of resources in the community.
  • You may choose to participate in the Renaissance Canteen Operation for skill enhancement in multiple areas.
  • You will receive assistance in accessing a volunteer job, job training or job placement services if you are interested in working.
  • You will meet with a PATH psychiatrist who will complete an evaluation and may prescribe medication for you, if indicated and desired.
  • You may decide to meet regularly with a therapist to address anxieties, conflicts in your relationships or other issues that concern you. Together with your therapist, you will develop a plan to make positive changes in your life and recover from mental illness.
  • You will meet with a Wellness Coach to assess and plan for your optimal physical health via assessment of medical needs.
  • You will receive assistance with obtaining needed resources such as financial benefits, medical benefits, housing and transportation.
  • You will have access to the Renaissance Warmline, a service available Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in which a Certified Peer Specialist can provide support when needed.
