Therapist - Family Based - Trauma Team

Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Job Summary

To promote the mission of PATH to help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by being an effective team member.  Provide intensive family based services as a team member with a mental health worker in an effort to prevent out of home placement and improve family relations.  Blend service delivery utilizing the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model with the TF-CBT model for identified youth.  Services are delivered primarily in the family’s home and include:  individual, family and group therapy; assessments; service coordination; and crisis prevention/intervention.

Specific Duties

  1. Provide initial and on-going comprehensive assessments of identified families and youth, with an emphasis on assessment of trauma and the impact on the family and individual.
  2. Provide family therapy with identified families using Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) model. 
  3. Provide blended Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and ESFT with identified youth
  4. Work collaboratively with assigned mental health worker team member to provide comprehensive services and linkages
  5. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis
  6. Deliver services in a manner convenient to families, this includes evening and weekend service provision
  7. Consult with psychiatrist on a regular basis and attend psychiatric appointments with the youth and family
  8. Collaborate on a regular basis with all systems involved with the youth and family
  9. Provide on going role modeling and skill building to families
  10. Provide crisis assessment, planning and prevention
  11. Provide case management services as needed
  12. Attend and participate in required ecosystemic family therapy trainings in addition to required state and local trainings
  13. Attend, participate and complete all requirements of TF-CBT training to obtain certificate, and attend on-going TF-CBT group supervision to support fidelity to the model.
  14. Demonstrate commitment to learning and practicing the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model, and TF-CBT model by bringing videotaped sessions to supervision, utilization of genograms, eco-maps, structural maps and assuring that identified traumatic events are included on the family timeline.
  15. Present cases both to peers at PATH, Inc. and at ESFT training program
  16. Complete all documentation in a timely, comprehensive manner, including documenting specific model interventions, and in accordance with PATH policies and procedures
  17. Contribute to any quality improvement/outcome measurement tracking and data gathering as assigned
  18. Meet productivity standards for your position


Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family or psychology from an accredited college or university; 2 years experience in the CASSP system, preference will be given to those with TF-CBT training and/or certification and/or ESFT training and/or certification; Must have a valid Driver’s License and a personal vehicle; Experience with Microsoft Office/Outlook
