Therapist - Family Based - Behavioral Health/Intellecctual Disabilities Team

Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Job Summary

To promote the mission of PATH to help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by being an effective team member.  Provide intensive family-based services as a team member with a mental health worker in an effort to prevent out of home placement and improve family relations.  Blend service delivery utilizing the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model with an Applied Behavioral Analysis model for identified youth.  Services are delivered primarily in the family’s home and include:  individual, family and group therapy; assessments; service coordination; and crisis prevention/intervention.

Specific Duties

  1. Provide initial and on-going comprehensive assessments of identified families and youth, to include the Vineland or other identified adaptive functioning assessments/tools/
  2. Provide family therapy with identified families using Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) model, blending behavioral techniques that includes role play and visual learning.
  3. Provide behavioral assessments and interventions that include task analysis and positive reinforcement that are developmentally and cognitively appropriate for identified youth and families.
  4. Complete a Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) that incorporates school, home and community as needed.
  5. Work collaboratively with assigned mental health worker team member to provide comprehensive services and linkages
  6. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis
  7. Deliver services in a manner convenient to families, this includes evening and weekend service provision
  8. Consult with psychiatrist on a regular basis and attend psychiatric appointments with the youth and family
  9. Collaborate on a regular basis with all systems involved with the youth and family
  10. Provide on going role modeling and skill building to families
  11. Provide crisis assessment, planning and prevention
  12. Provide case management services as needed
  13. Attend and participate in required ecosystemic family therapy trainings in addition to required state and local trainings
  14. Demonstrate commitment to learning and practicing the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model by bringing videotaped sessions to supervision, utilization of genograms, eco-maps, structural maps and assuring that identified traumatic events are included on the family timeline.
  15. Attend and participate in trainings to work successfully with an individual or caregiver with an intellectual disability, to include Motivational Interviewing. 
  16. Present cases both to peers at PATH, Inc. and at ESFT training program
  17. Complete all documentation in a timely, comprehensive manner, including documenting specific model interventions, and in accordance with PATH policies and procedures
  18. Contribute to any quality improvement/outcome measurement tracking and data gathering as assigned
  19. Meet productivity standards for your position


Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family or psychology from an accredited college or university; 2 years’ experience in the CASSP system, preference will be given to those with Applied Behavioral Analysis training and/or certification and/or ESFT training and/or certification. Must have a valid Driver’s License and a personal vehicle; Experience with Microsoft Office/Outlook
